Yeah Im literally jittering in my cahir waiting to see this movie, and I actually hope they'll make a sequel, though, I doubt it, but, a movie for each storyline in the comics would rock

Just got back from an advance screening here in the 'burgh ... to keep it short, it was amazing All the lines I thought might come out cheesy were perfectly in character. The action was good and reasonable, and the performances were pretty good throughout (I didn't like Selma Blair at first, but by the end, I warmed up to her - no pun intended). There were a few things that weren't really explained all that well in my opinion; they were explained, but I thought they were a bit hasty. I'll put them in my spoilers section, in case anyone wants to enlighten me later down the line.

The kicker for me is that I went with my brother, who knew nothing of the character, and still enjoyed the movie. He thought the pacing was a little odd (too fast-paced, he thought), but I think that's more a consequence of trying to squeeze as much as Del Toro could into two hours than anything else; the director's cut should have more room to breathe on DVD.

Excellent adaptation; as far as comic movies go, I think it's on-par with X2 or Spiderman, if not better (I liked it more because I love the character so damn much).

    On with the spoilers:

spoiler (click to view):

Didn't understand really what the monster was that came out of Rasputin; I figured it was something from "the other side," as they kept referring to it, but that doesn't really make sense, if there's seven elder gods or whatever ... A lesser god? Or just a small minion? Either way, it was unclear, although I think implied. The traps in the last segment were, I'm assuming, traps set by Rasputin and the Nazis, but they never clarified. Also, the Liz thing at the end seemed a little cliche, but that's just nitpicky, not a problem, necessarily. And I think that killing "Broom" (don't konw why they changed his name) was an ... interesting move. That is all!

Pretty good ... it's Pittsburgh; you can't really expect much change

Spfxwizard is from around here, too.

I just realized that you never see Hellboy's hooves in the movie; I thought GDT said they were gonna show them briefly (they put boots on him because they looked silly apparently ... but a glimpse would have been nice )

    Some comic-related spoilers:

spoiler (click to view):

Keep an eye out for a homonculus in the background of one shot (maybe Roger?) The talisman Hellboy uses to resurrect the corpse is from the Hellboy/Batman/Starman crossover. And maybe it's me, but the giant hammer that almost takes out Jeffrey Tambor's character and Hellboy looks strikingly like Mjolnir ...
